Abstract
Casting concrete during cold weather months can be tricky. If the water in the material reaches freezing, then the newly poured concrete can be damaged to the point that it must be discarded. Even if the water doesn’t reach freezing, concrete can get cold enough to hinder its ability to gain strength. Concrete that hits freezing temperatures in its first 24 hours can lose up to 50% of its potential strength.
