The world’s population is ageing faster than it ever has before. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 2015 and 2050 the number of people that are 60 years or older will go from 900 million to 2 billion. This unprecedented rate of increase - from 12% to 22% - in such a short space of time has wide-ranging implications for our society, begging the question, “How do we tackle the challenges of such a rapidly ageing population?” In this short article series, we will be exploring the truths and challenges of the ageing population and look at what that means for our society and our industry. In part two, we look at housing.
