Abstract

Details the engineering statutory and regulatory framework for those organisations that process healthcare and adult social care linen. Gives guidance on the roles of key personnel, the built environment and considerations for design and pre-purchase. Also contains advice regarding validation and verification of disinfection performance of washers, washer-extractors and continuous tunnel washers.

History

This guidance is based on the HTM 01-04:2016 Decontamination of linen for health and social care: engineering, equipment and validation published by the Department of Health in 2016. Supersedes HSG(95)18 Hospital laundry arrangements for used and infected linen.
