Abstract
Determines the characteristics and performance requirements of aggregate concrete masonry units made from dense and lightweight aggregates or a combination of both. These can be used in common, facing or exposed masonry in load bearing or non load bearing building and civil engineering applications, they are suitable for all forms of walling, (such as single leaf, external leaf to chimneys, cavity wall, partitions, retaining, and basement). The main advantages of using these units are for fire protection, thermal insulation, sound insulation and sound absorption. Additionally includes concrete masonry units of an overall non rectangular parallelepiped shape, specially shaped and accessory units.
History
Supersedes BS EN 771-3:2011. This standard is a hEN. This is a harmonized European Standard and fully takes into account the requirements of the European Commission mandate M116, Masonry and related products. Amendment dated 31 March 2016 - Implementation of CEN amendment A1:2015. National Foreword and National Annex NA also updated.
