Technical Advice Notes (Wales)
Aims to equip all those involved in the design of development with advice on: how 'Promoting sustainability through good design' and 'Planning for sustainable buildings' may be facilitated through the planning system; and the preparation and validation of mandatory design and access statements. Covers: definition of design, design process, design issues, local authority design policy/advice, sustainable buildings, design and access statements.
Supersedes TAN 12: Design (WG, 2014) and Circular 5/94, 16/94: Planning out crime (DOE/Welsh Office, 1994). Useful reference documents (included as footnotes and in Appendix 1) provide additional information which may be read in conjunction with this TAN.
