Abstract

Gathers information from a range of 60 Guidance Notes covering the design and construction of structural steelwork for bridges. The various sections cover: design - general, design - detailing, materials and products, contract documentation, fabrication, inspection and testing, erection and in situ construction work and protective treatment. This updated version updates all notes and changes references from the SBC Model project specification (MPS) (SCI publication P382) to the Specification for highway works (SHW) Series 1800 Structural steelwork. Guidance provided in the MPS remains valid for those project not using the SHW.
