Abstract
Comprises the Government's response to the House of Commons Transport Committee's inquiry into river crossings. This looked specifically at how well local and national government work together to plan and deliver river crossing projects; the knowledge, resources and experience the public sector needs to deliver large, strategically significant river crossing projects; other government priorities e.g. new house building that can be delivered through additional strategic river crossings; accuracy of existing cost-benefit analysis methods; methods for financing additional river crossings; how greater investment can be attracted from the private to the public sector for the delivery and maintenance of river crossings; tolling and technology.
