Abstract

Updates guidance issued in 1978 (TR 15) and in 1990 (TR 33), to reflect changes in standards and significant advances in repair techniques, including petrography and analytical methods. Focussing on damage assessment, the effects of fire on materials, testing, assessment and presentation of data are discussed in detail. Design aspects are considered including philosophy, structural analysis, repair criteria, member design, outputs and load tests. Highlights repair methods which can apply to any damage to concrete, not just fire-damage, including surface cleaning, breaking out, reinforcement, mortar, flowable concrete, sprayed concrete, resins and strengthening with fibre composites. Includes case studies both in buildings and under bridges and some worked examples.
