Abstract
Intended to highlight and clarify aspects of fire and smoke barrier/ damper installation, including the responsibilities of all parties involved in the overall sequence from system specification through to a compliant installation. Emphasises the need for all parties to work as a team by recognising not only their individual responsibilities but also those of other parties.

The Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association represented those responsible for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration products and equipment. HVCA changed name to the Building and Engineering Services Association (B&ES) on Thursday 1 March 2012.
