Abstract

For straight stairs and winders with nosings with a straight edge and where the straight stairs have a walking line perpendicular to the nosings. Covers design, construction and maintenance aspects of straight stairs. Also examines safety aspects relating to handrails, guarding, steps, glazed areas and windows, doors, fire protection and means of escape and marking of nosings, includes dimensions, durability and materials, slip resistance, acoustics and lighting.
