Abstract
Offers design guidance and actions for the structural design of buildings and civil engineering works including some geotechnical aspects for the densities of construction materials and stored materials, self-weight of construction works and imposed loads for buildings.
History
Superseded by BS EN 1991-1-1:2025. This document is considered to be a first generation Eurocode and is the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. A period now exists to prepare for the transition between first and second generation Eurocodes. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS 6399-1:1996 and DD ENV 1991-2-1:1996. Amendment 15507 is Corrigendum No.1. dated 15 December 2004 - Addition of supersession details. Amendment dated 28 February 2010 - Implementation of CEN corrigendum March 2009. To enable EN 1991-1-1 to be used in the UK, the NDPs will be published in a National Annex which will be made available by BSI in due course, after public consultation has taken place.
