Advice on community safety and security issues for most types of housing developments, individual houses, housing estates and low rise apartment blocks (up to 5 stories above ground level). Discusses design and layout and physical security.

Publisher History

Now known as the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC). The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) existed until 31 March 2015, as an independent professional body coordinating the development of the police service in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The ACPO formed the Crime Prevention Initiatives to manage projects such as Secured by Design, which was established in 1989 and focussed on providing design guidance and security for new and refurbished homes, commercial premises and car parks.
