Abstract
Looks at the Bernie Grant centre by Adjaye/Associates. Located in the north London borough of Haringey, this project consists of three separate parts: the Hub (an administration building - which is a refurbishment and extension of an existing Grade II-listed Victorian bathhouse); the performance centre and a set of studio spaces. The project includes a canopy; a giant hood which extends beyond the volume of the performance centre. This hood is clad with horizontal battens of purple-heart timber and provides shelter and an intermediary space between the path connecting to the performance centre and the atrium.
