Explanatory Memorandum
Abstract
Relates to the Highways (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2007. SI 2007/1062. Amends the Highways Act 1980 by introducing environmental impact assessments (EIAs) on trunk road projects that may have a significant effect on the environment. Encourages public participation in decision making process and makes allowances for legal challenge of decisions.
