Abstract
Describes general considerations associated with the use of industrial by-products in construction, and also the use of by-products from non-ferrous metals production as bound aggregate. Concretes containing crushed waste refractory bricks from aluminium smelters are assessed. In situ performance of these roads and ones made from zinc production-derived slag, as well as leaching capacity of the materials, are also evaluated.
