Abstract
Deals with the issue of solar overheating and the way it can be avoided by appropriate building design. The Building Regulations Part L (2006 edition) include a requirement to limit the effects of solar gains in summer. This covers both new dwellings and new buildings that are not dwellings in England and Wales. Provides additional explanation of the solar overheating guidance in Approved Document L2A, and has been endorsed for this purpose by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM).
