Planning Policy Statement
Abstract
Sets out the Department’s planning policies for demolition of buildings, new development and the control of advertisements in areas of townscape character. It aims to ensure that development proposals respect the appearance and qualities of each townscape area and maintain or enhance their distinctive character.
History
Will be cancelled by Strategic planning policy statement for Northern Ireland (SPPS) - planning for sustainable development (DOENI, 2015) when all eleven councils have adopted a new Plan Strategy for the whole of their council area. To be read with Planning policy statement 6: Planning, archaeology and the built heritage (DOENI - Planning Service, 1999).
