Abstract

Review of the underlying principles of fire protection in buildings presenting the results in the form of recommendations. Incorporates three parts that complement the first report. Recommendations are made for provision of active defence measures for extinguishing fire or minimising its spread. Structural matters and planning in relation to the safety of the occupants (including escape facilities) are also considered, as is the risk posed by chimneys, flue pipes and hearths.
