Abstract

The Peat Working Group was convened by the DETR in 1992 to consider the key issues in the balance between nature conservation and mineral extraction issues affecting peatlands. Its first report was published in 1994. The Group was reconvened in 1997 to consider how well Government policies and associated guidance were working in practice and to provide recommendations on the need or otherwise for change. This current report presents the findings of this work.
