Abstract
Shows how integration of the key elements of ceilings, floors and partitions is often hindered by the fact that a fit-out can occur long after a building is designed and built. And argues that for this reason manufacturers will find themselves having to come up with innovative solutions as the office interior design mantra of 'flexibility' is taken up with more gusto by clients that want new ways of working. Presents a case study of the interior fit-out of The Benfield Group's offices in London. The phases completed so far chart the spatial response to a rapidly changing company and provide an opportunity to look at how elements can be modified and re-used.
