Abstract
‘Technical intelligence' client report intended to ensure that those involved at the sharp end of designing, building and maintaining structures are made more aware of potential durability problems in cement-based materials or causes of damage to such materials or components. This report includes a number of case studies including: Heave problems associated with the use of steel-making slags as fill, Pop-outs and delamination of warehouse floors, Blistering of a floor levelling compound, Acid attack on a concrete floor at a fruit market, and Chloride induced corrosion of reinforcement in ‘dry’ internal environments.
