Guidance on the design and installation aspects of permanent steel sheet piled walls for steel intensive basement construction. This is particularly relevant to top-down construction methods where the sheet pile walls can be left in place and built into the final construction, being propped by cast in-situ concrete floor slabs, as the construction progresses deeper. A lower whole life cost is obtained due to simpler and faster construction, less risk of subsidence during construction, reduced maintenance costs through less leakage, and ease of removal at the end of service life.
