Abstract
The first in a series of Challenger Learning Centres, sited in Victoria Park, University of Leicester. The building is demountable and will be moved eventually to its permanent home in the National Space Science Centre, University of Leicester. The structure has lightweight, white pvc-coated polyester fabric panels on a series of 13 demountable trusses. Use of prefabricated elements. Gives working details of a structure of steel trusses and polyester fabric and details of costs. Architects: Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners. Structure and service engineers: Ove Arup & Partners.
