Architects' Journal Refurbishment
Repair, re-building and restoration of the listed Dissenters' Chapel in Kensal Green Cemetery to provide visitors' facilities. The main structure is brick overlaid with Roman cement, with the facade in Portland stone; the roof covering was replaced with terned steel and the colonnades re-built using recycled stone. Work on the interior included reinstatement of the pulpit, panelling and two timber pews and restoration of the plasterwork. New extension, to provide meeting rooms and other facilities, has high level of natural light. Funding came from North Kensington City Challenge, Heritage Lottery Fund and Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery.
First produced in 1895, the Architects' Journal features comprehensive building studies, and in-depth technical articles.
