The report contains three main parts comprising eight chapters. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the issues, motivation behind the work and advice on using the tables and graphs. PART I contains information on the structure of the UK non-domestic building stock, including national breakdowns of floor area by age and region, and information on the physical characteristics of the buildings. PART II contains information on current patterns of energy use and the occurrence of building services. PART III contains information on trends in energy use and related material. Appendix A describes the different classification systems, units and conventions used throughout the text.
