Defect Action Sheet
Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers wood floors: reducing risk of recurrent dry rot. Failures discussed include recurrence of dry rot after treatment. Defects discussed include sources of dampness incorrectly diagnosed; dampness inadequately cured; drying out too slow; fungus not fully eradicated; and replacement timber inadequately treated with preservative.
