Defect Action Sheet
Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers pitched roofs: sarking felt underlay - watertightness. Failures discussed include dampness and staining of ceilings, wetting of loft insulation; dampness in eaves and bargeboards; dampness in inner leaf of walls below 'clipped' eaves. Defects discussed include sarking felt not fitted closely around SVP; not properly lapped; not dressed out over eaves gutters and bargeboards.
