DMRB Volume 4 Section 1
Describes a number of methods of widening existing earthworks using soil reinforcing, soil nailing and other forms of soil improvement: it also indicates other aspects which need to be considered. It is issued for the guidance of engineers responsible for the design of the geotechnical and associated aspects of widening highway earthworks, particularly motorway widening schemes. It describes some of the factors which may influence slope stability and gives information on some of the methods available.
