Abstract

Supports Part L of Schedule 1 to the Building Regulations 2010, giving guidance for compliance with the Regulations for building work carried out in Wales. Deals with conservation of fuel and power and the minimisation of greenhouse gases for dwellings. Covers: calculating the target emission rate, target primary energy rate, target fabric performance values and target energy use intensity rating; calculating the dwelling primary energy rate, dwelling emission rate and dwelling energy use intensity; limiting heat losses and gains, and target fabric performance values; carbon and energy performance of building services - general guidance; carbon and energy performance of building services - system specific guidance; air permeability and pressure testing; commissioning fixed building services and on-site electricity generation systems; installation, certification, inspection and testing of heat pump systems; providing information to owners about the building, fixed building services and maintenance requirements; new elements in existing dwellings, including extensions; work to thermal elements in existing dwellings; consequential improvements; and optional approaches for more design flexibility.

Will supersede: Conservation of fuel and power. Volume 1 - dwellings (2022 edition incorporating 2024 amendments - for use in Wales) on 4 March 2027. Will come into effect: 4 March 2027.
