Abstract

This article examines two London homeless support projects—Shelter From The Storm by Holland Harvey Architects and Mount Pleasant by Peter Barber Architects—designed to restore dignity and optimism for people in crisis. Through thoughtful spatial planning, material choices, and community-focused design, both schemes challenge institutional norms and demonstrate how architecture can create humane, empowering environments for vulnerable individuals. Includes project data and detail design.
