Abstract
Located at Mayfield School in East Sussex, Saint Raphael’s Health and Wellbeing Centre by Adam Richards Architects is a purpose-built facility supporting both mental and physical care for students. Constructed with a cross-laminated timber frame and a stone brick outer leaf, the building marries sustainability with permanence. It features counselling rooms, bedrooms, and informal teaching spaces, set around cloister-like circulation and landscaped courtyards. As the first completed building to use Polycor’s stone brick and pair it with CLT, it demonstrates acoustic, thermal and spatial care in its detailing. Includes: Project data section, Project description, Architect’s view section, Architect’s choices, Selected products, Specification detail drawings. Architect: Adam Richards Architects
