Abstract
This publication highlights the corrosion-resistant properties of stainless steels, particularly their ability to form a protective chromium oxide layer, making them ideal for offshore structures in harsh, chloride-rich environments. Duplex stainless steels, known for their strength, corrosion resistance, and ductility, are especially suited for low-maintenance structural components in offshore oil, gas, wind, and wave structures, with applications ranging from fire walls and cable ladders to walkways and boat landing systems, in addition to widespread use in process equipment such as piping and vessels.
