Abstract
Relates to the basis for the design of buildings and civil engineering works in unreinforced, reinforced, prestressed and confined masonry, dealing with the requirements for materials, ductility, structural analysis, ultimate limit states, serviceability limit states, detailing, and execution.
History
This document is considered to be a second generation Eurocode and can be used to prepare for the transition from first to second generation of Eurocodes. The first generation Eurocode should be used as the applicable standard for building and civil engineering works constructed in the UK. First generation Eurocodes will be withdrawn by BSI on 30 March 2028 and will be replaced by second generation Eurocodes. Supersedes BS EN 1996-1-1:2005+A1:2012. The National Annex contains national choices for buildings and civil engineering works constructed in the UK.
