The benefits should be available to the whole business, from successful outcomes, improved communications, effective training, increased confidence, policy making, and competitiveness. Provides guidance for establishing, implementing, maintaining, evaluating and improving an innovation management system within an organisation. Follows the plan, do, check and act (PDCA) cycle.

Supersedes PD CEN/TS 16555-1:2013 and BS ISO 56002:2019. Identical to ISO 56002:2019. Amendment dated 31 January 2021 - This corrigendum renumbers BS ISO 56002:2019 as BS EN ISO 56002:2021. The supersession details in the national foreword have also been updated.
