Abstract

Recommendations are given for general principles of road lighting including aesthetic, technical aspects, operation and maintenance. Also includes guidance on energy consumption and environmental impacts. Considers the design of lighting for all types of highways, public thoroughfares and pedestrian and cyclists subways and bridges. And the design of lighting for urban centres and public amenity areas, including lighting relating to smart cities.
