This is 2nd edition 2018 (V2) incorporating changes made by addendum dated April 2020. First published 1999 as DW/171 Standard for kitchen ventilation systems (HVCA, 1999). Updated as: DW/172 Specification for kitchen ventilation systems (HVCA, 2005).

A trade organisation meeting the needs of building engineering services contractors involved with design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, control and management of engineering systems and services in buildings. It was established in 1904 as the National Association of Master Heating and Domestic Engineers and has been through a few name changes since, including: Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA) and from 2012 it was the known as the Building and Engineering Services Association (BES).
