Abstract
Considers the overall structural concept. Discusses environmental exposure conditions and the methods of achieving durability, principally by choice of concrete mix parameters and cover to reinforcement. Provides information on the way that construction methods, materials and techniques impact on designs. Thermal, seismic and wind effects are examined, and covers structural considerations such as reinforcement detailing, crack widths and dealing with movements and shrinkage. Includes appendices encompassing topography and climate, permeability testing, and test methods for self-compacting concrete.
