Abstract
Clarifies issues relating to BS EN 795, the European PPE Directive 89/686/EEC and CE marking generally, citing the Netherlands Court Case and the resulting change of position in the UK. Indicates the continued need for product testing and regular examination. This update provides an overview of the current situation and presents a proposal to move forward. Looks at alternative route for CE-certification of products and other certification schemes. Also highlights the circumstances where a manufacturer test report/CE certificate is valid and what users should look for.
