Presents the case studies analysed as part of a study looking at the use of heat pumps in district heating, exploring their CO2 emissions reduction potential, cost and environmental implications. For each example information is given to set the scheme in context, explaining how the scheme works, selection criteria and provides technical parameters. The case studies included: a district heating and cooling network in Helsinki, an aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES) system in Wandsworth, a heat pump used in Duindorp, The Netherlands and an off-gas grid development in Derbyshire.
A DECC sponsored study conducted by Element Energy and Carbon Alternatives. URN 15D/537. See also: Heat pumps in district heating. Final report (DECC, 2016).
