Abstract
Comprises an update on the progress of the government's community energy strategy. The strategy set out the role that communities can play in helping to meet the UK’s energy and climate change challenges, bringing together existing policies and initiatives with new actions to provide a coherent package of support across the spectrum of community energy.

The Department brings together much of the Climate Change Group, previously housed within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), with the Energy Group from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). From July 2016, DECC became part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
