Abstract
Introduces the principles behind legislation concerning historic buildings with the aim of giving a better understanding of the aims and objectives of conservation offices, statutory amenity societies and other protectors of our heritage. This knowledge should help architects advise clients accurately and within relevant legislative requirements, make successful listed building applications, and ensure their interventions are sensitive, appropriate and effective. Includes guidance on the processes of preparing a listed building application, a suitable tender package and administering the contract.
