Abstract

Introduces good practice aspects for managing and providing routine and winter services on the trunk road network. This section introduces administrative aspects including claims for damages to the road network, claims against the Highways Agency, standards improvement systems (SIS) and IT and other systems.

Currency: Version 1 amendment 8 dated July 2009. Part 9 is intentionally blank. This issue replaces Version 1 amendment 7 dated June 2008. Replaces HA Trunk road maintenance manual Volumes 1-3.

Publisher History

The Highways Agency transformed into Highways England in 2015 and was then renamed as National Highways in 2021. The government company had responsibility for operating England's motorways and major A roads, including modernising and maintaining the highways. Their publications include the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, the Manual of Contract Documents for Road Works and Interim Advice Notes.
