Abstract
Comprises a strategy to produce cleaner and greener energy in England to meet renewable energy and carbon targets. Focuses on non-financial barriers to microgeneration which must be tackled to maximise the effectiveness of the financial incentives that have been put in place. Looks at: quality and standards; the skills and knowledge needed; technology; information and advice for consumers; and energy at a community scale.

The Department brings together much of the Climate Change Group, previously housed within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), with the Energy Group from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). From July 2016, DECC became part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
