Intended to help designers using BS 6399-2:1997 minimise design wind loads, as higher loads may lead to unnecessarily conservative steel designs. Presents an overview of two principal calculation methods: the directional and standard methods. Within each method, the calculation process is split into dynamic classification of the structure, calculation of wind speeds, and of the dynamic pressure and the loads on the building. Recommendations covering these stages are given.
