Addresses the safe systems of work and safety procedures for operation and management of low voltage (up to 1,000V a.c.) electrical installations in healthcare premises. Provides information and statutory guidance for those responsible for meeting the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
History
Superseded by Health Technical Memorandum 06-02: Electrical safety guidance for low voltage systems and Health Technical Memorandum 06-02: Electrical safety handbook, both dated 2023, published under NHS England. Supersedes NHS Estates' HTM 2020 docum6ents. Department of Health is now known as the Department of Health and Social Care.

The Department of Health was committed to improving the quality and convenience of care provided by the NHS and social services. Its work included setting national standards, shaping the direction of health and social care services and promoting healthier living. Publications included Space for Health: Technical Manuals, as well as the Health Building Notes, Health Technical Memorandums, and White Papers. They were renamed to the Department of Health and Social Care. However responsibility for technical guidance was then transferred to NHS Improvement in February 2017 which is now part of NHS England and NHS Improvement.
