Guidance to architects and builders on structural fire precautions and provisions for means of escape for houses, flats, maisonettes and sheltered housing, but not for houses in multiple occupation, caravans and mobile homes. Includes guidance on ancillary accommodation, engineering services and fire protection facilities, and advice to owners and occupiers.

History

Superseded by BS 9991:2011. Supersedes CP 3 Chapter IV-1:1971 and BS 5588-1-1:1984. BS 5588-1:1990 is not being superseded by BS 9999:2008 but it is expected to be revised in due course and issued with a new identifier.
