Abstract

Specifies requirements for steel lighting columns, including materials and conformity control. Applies to post top columns not exceeding 20m height for post top lanterns and to columns with brackets not exceeding 18m height for side entry lanterns. Specifies performance related to the essential requirements of resistance to horizontal (wind) loads and performance under vehicle impact (passive safety).

History

Supersedes BS EN 40-5:2000. This document is a candidate harmonized European Standard (hEN) and takes into account the requirements of EC mandate M/111 circulation fixtures. Includes Annex ZA Provisions for CE Marking. This standard is a hEN.
