Defect Action Sheet
Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers domestic gas appliances: air requirements. Failures discussed include insufficient air for appliance or occupants; over-heating of compartments containing appliances; and unacceptable draughts. Defects discussed include vents for combustion air too small; vents for heat dissipation too small; and vents badly sited and blocked off by occupants.
