Defect Action Sheet
Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers roofs: eaves gutters and downpipes - installation. Failures discussed include rain penetration of external walls; and deterioration of walls. Defects discussed include insecure fixings; gutters installed with backfalls; gutters not installed correctly relative to roof edge; downpipes mis-positioned relative to gullies; gutters and downpipes distorted; and unnecessary delay before connecting downpipes to gutters.
