European Aviation Safety Agency Strengthens Ties with CIS
March 2, 2006
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) expanded its relationship with the Inter-State Aviation Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The organizations implemented procedures in January for design approvals of aircraft, engines and propellers from the European Union (EU), EASA said.
The groups signed a similar agreement regarding the procedures used to approve aircraft, engines and propellers from CIS in 2004.
As part of the follow-on agreement, the organizations plan to work together to assess the continued airworthiness of pre-CIS legacy built aircraft, including the Kamov 26, IL-76 and MI-8 aircraft.
